The ENGWE T14 comes equipped with mechanical disc brakes on both front and rear wheels. These brakes use a cable‐actuated caliper to squeeze brake pads against a steel rotor, delivering reliable stopping power even when the bike is loaded or riding in wet conditions. In practical terms, you can expect the T14 to slow from its top-assist speed of about 15.5 mph down to zero in roughly 4 meters under dry, straight-line braking—about 40 percent shorter than a comparable rim-brake setup.

Mechanical disc brakes on the T14 require a bit more lever force—typically in the 30–40 newton range—than hydraulic systems, which often need only 20–30 newtons. That extra hand pressure translates to a slightly firmer feel at the lever and marginally less modulation, but it also means you won’t need a hydraulic‐bleed kit or fluid top‐ups. Compared with some entry-level e-bikes that still use rim brakes, the T14’s mechanical discs offer far more consistent performance in mud or rain, and they resist rim wear over time.
