The Engwe EP-2 3.0 Boost does not include a throttle, which means the electric motor only engages when you’re actively pedaling. Throttles can be handy for getting rolling on steep grades or for brief, hands-free bursts of speed, but they also tend to drain the battery more quickly. Since the EP-2 3.0 Boost relies solely on pedaling, range estimates of 30–45 miles per charge (depending on assist level, rider weight, and terrain) generally hold up well, whereas continuous throttle use on other models can cut range by 20 percent or more.

The absence of a throttle matters most for riders who need instant standstill power—such as those with limited leg strength or frequent stop-and-go commutes—or for anyone who wants the flexibility to “twist and go” in traffic.
