The Engwe EP-2 3.0 Boost is equipped with a true torque sensor tucked into the bottom bracket, which measures the actual force you apply to the pedals and adjusts the motor’s output in real time. Rather than simply detecting that the cranks are turning, this sensor responds in under 5 milliseconds to amplify your pedal effort—up to around 90 Nm of torque from the 750 W rear hub motor. The result is a silky‐smooth power delivery that mirrors your pedaling rhythm, avoiding the on/off surges and delays often experienced with basic cadence‐only systems.

In comparison to many e-bikes in its class that use cadence sensors (which only kick in once the pedals are in motion and tend to deliver a flat, pre-set boost), the EP-2 3.0 Boost’s torque sensing lets you choose one of five assist levels that proportionally scale your effort. This precision can translate into more efficient battery use—since the motor only works as hard as you do—and noticeably smoother starts, stops and hill climbs. Riders tapping out a gentle 20 Nm of pedal force will see a much gentler assist than those pushing 50 Nm, allowing for a more controlled, natural ride.
