Models with dual suspension often pair that rear travel with a front fork offering 80 mm or more of travel, providing a cushioned ride on uneven terrain. By contrast, the ENGWE L20 relies entirely on its front fork suspension (where fitted) and tire volume to handle shocks, so riders trading off rear compliance for simplicity and efficiency will find it suits flatter, smoother routes best.

The absence of rear suspension on the L20 matters most to commuters and urban riders who traverse paved streets, bike lanes, and light gravel. If your daily route includes cobblestones, railroad crossings, or potholed back roads, you’ll feel each jolt directly through the frame. Conversely, if your priority is a lower-maintenance build with slightly improved pedal efficiency on smooth surfaces, the L20’s rigid rear end delivers a predictable, responsive ride without the added complexity of a rear shock.
