The Engwe ENGWE L20 comes equipped with true “fat” tires—20-inch wheels wrapped in 4.0-inch-wide rubber. That width nearly doubles the contact patch you’d find on a typical city e-bike using 1.95- to 2.2-inch tires. At recommended pressures as low as 5–15 PSI, those fat tires deform easily over obstacles, smoothing out bumps on gravel, snow or sand and boosting lateral grip on loose terrain.

Compared with standard-width e-bike tires, the L20’s fat setup delivers up to 50–100% more surface area in contact with the ground, translating to noticeably steadier handling off-road and extra cushioning on poorly maintained city streets. The trade-off is higher rolling resistance under pedal or throttle power, which can shave around 10–15% off range versus a narrow-tire commuter bike under identical riding conditions.

Riders who benefit most from these fat tires include beach cruisers, trail explorers and anyone facing irregular surfaces—muddy paths, snowy sidewalks or steep, loose gravel.
