The Engwe P275 SE uses a step-through frame, meaning its top tube sits significantly lower than on a traditional “step-over” design. Whereas many e-bikes feature a top tube or downtube mounted at roughly 60 cm (23.5 in) above the ground, the P275 SE’s tube typically drops to around 45 cm (17.7 in). This reduction of about 15 cm (6 in) in standover height makes mounting and dismounting nearly effortless, especially when you’re starting or stopping frequently in urban traffic.

Compared with a higher-mounted frame, the step-through layout shifts how weight feels under you and often adds a touch more flex in the chassis—on the order of 5–10 percent—since the main tubes aren’t joined as high up. That trade-off is usually imperceptible for most riders but does mean the P275 SE is tuned more for comfortable commutes and leisurely weekend rides rather than hardcore off-road blasting. Many full-size “step-over” e-bikes, by contrast, emphasize rigidity and a more aggressive posture, with bars set 5–10 cm higher and frames built to resist twist during high-speed cornering.

This frame style matters most if you’re carrying groceries, commuting in dress clothes, or have limited hip and knee mobility. Shorter riders—or anyone balancing a loads of shopping bags over cobblestone streets—will appreciate that they don’t need to swing a leg over a 60 cm bar every few minutes. At the same time, families with multiple riders, seniors, and riders who stop at traffic lights dozens of times a day will find the P275 SE’s step-through geometry easier on joints and far less nerve-wracking when navigating crowded sidewalks or bike lanes.
