The Engwe P275 SE comes without any rear suspension, meaning its rear triangle is fully rigid and offers zero millimeters of travel. Riders will feel every bump and ripple in the road directly through the frame and saddle. While the front suspension fork on this model may absorb some impact—typically around 50 mm of travel—there is nothing at the back to cushion rough patches or off-road chatter.

Compared to many mid-weight electric bikes that include rear shocks with anywhere from 50 mm to over 100 mm of travel, the P275 SE’s rigid rear keeps overall weight and maintenance needs lower. A typical rear shock and linkage can add 1.5 to 3 kilograms (3–6 pounds) to the bike, plus regular servicing to keep seals and bushings in good shape. By skipping the rear suspension, Engwe offers a simpler ride setup that requires less upkeep and brings the total frame weight down by roughly that same amount.

This rear-rigid design most often matters to riders focused on urban commuting, bike-packing on well-maintained gravel paths, or anyone seeking a lighter bike with fewer service intervals. If your routes are mostly smooth pavement or compacted trails, you may not notice the missing rear travel. However, anyone planning frequent rides on rough terrain, technical singletrack, or potholed backroads will likely feel the trade-off in comfort and may prefer a bike with at least 50 mm of rear suspension travel.
