Backfire M7 Ranger: Long-Range Comfort for Daily Commuters
The Backfire M7 Ranger is engineered for riders who demand both distance and comfort on their daily route. With dual 800W motors peaking at 1,600W, it tops out at 48 km/h and taps into a 792 Wh battery pack for a claimed 65 km range. Dual spring suspension paired with 10-inch pneumatic tires smooths out potholes, while an IP55 rating guards against dust and water. At 29 kg, it trades lightness for a rugged build—ideal for commuters covering 20 km+ round trips who prioritize stability and durability over easy carry. Priced at $647, the M7 Ranger delivers best-in-class power and range for those seeking a reliable ride across mixed-terrain city streets.
Real-World Range & Battery Performance
While Backfire rates the M7 Ranger at 65 km, real-world factors—rider weight, average speed, terrain and weather—typically reduce that to around 50 km. A 75 kg rider cruising at 25-30 km/h on rolling hills and eco mode can expect roughly 45-55 km per charge. Pushing the throttle to top speed or climbing steep gradients taps into the 792 Wh battery faster. For daily commuters, charging after 40-50 km ensures consistent battery health and a full 8.5-hour recharge only when overnight plugged in.
Portability vs Comfort: Weight and Suspension
At 29 kg, the M7 Ranger sits above the average commuter scooter weight of 25 kg. That heft translates into a more stable ride, supporting the dual spring suspension and 10-inch pneumatic tires in smoothing out cracks and cobblestones. However, lifting it onto buses or storing it in tight elevators requires more effort. Riders who prioritize cushioned handling over last-mile portability will appreciate the trade-off. Removing the rear spring preload tool for on-the-go adjustments helps fine-tune firmness without adding extra bulk.
